'An Affair to Remember'
As reported in previous newsletters, there were significant changes made to the Family Law Act on March 1, 2009. We noted that the changes to the law allow a married person to also be in a domestic relationship with a third party. Now in the first known case of its kind in Australia since the changes took place, a married man has been ordered to pay his mistress of over 20 years more than $100,000.00. The Act also gives people in domestic relationships and same sex relationships rights under the Family Law Act.
